Chill'n with Celebs!

So last week me and Alex went down to Vegas to go to an Air Supply concert. Now I know what you're thinking. "Air Supply? The guys who sing like every eighties love song" Yep, that's the one. (If you don't know who they are, have you ever heard "I'm all out of love, I'm so lost without you... or that song Celine Dion sing "cause I'm your lady and you are my man..." well they wrote it and she made is famous. If you don't recognize that then just turn on any soft rock station and you'll hear them.) Now I have to explain. Alex's brother is Air Supply's sound guy and travels all over the world with them. Very cool. He gave us tickets and a chance to meet the band and since we never get out without the kids we dropped the two little one's off at my sister's house (in Vegas) and went to the show. Honestly we were the youngest ones there. There were 50 year old groupies who follow these guys around everywhere! They even want to know everything about Jeremy (Alex's brother) just because he is part of their crew. Crazy!

Anyway we got there and went back stage before the show started to meet the band. Russel Hitchcock, who is the main singer and about as tall as me was the only one we met then. Graham Russell the guitarist, song writer and singer was busy. We went right into the green room and in a very British accent Russel shakes my hand and says, "give us a cheek kiss love" Okay. So in true Holly Wood fashion I kissed his cheek as he kissed mine. Woo woo. Then we went back out and watched the show. I was surprised at how good a couple of old guys could jam out to love songs and more surprised at how many songs I knew. I even found myself singing along with the 40 and 50 somethings.

So after the show Jeremy took us back stage again to meet the rest of the band. He left us back stage while he ran to go do something. The band was in the green room and we were just chill'n back stage when suddenly one of the tech guys runs over and hands me a binder "hold this, don't move, just hold this" and runs off. Well of course, I had to look inside. Oh my gosh! I was holding all of the piano players hand written music for the entire show. I looked at Alex and said, "Lets run" We laughed, but when I saw the piano player round the corner, look at me and then look at his music in my hands I almost did just that. His face turned white as he said, "What are you doing?!" I think I tried to explain the entire scenario in under a second when the tech guy comes up behind laughing his head off. " Oh I thought you were some crazed fan trying to take off with my music" we all got a good laugh once he had his music safely back in his hands! Then we went back in the green room and met Johnny Lightfoot, the bass guitarist who is really weird and Graham Russel who is really tall and Australian I think. We just chilled back there with everybody while they drank bear and wine and we had water and the biggest chocolate chip cookie ever.

Well I don't know if I'll be mingling with any more eighties rock stars in the near future, but my first encounter was really fun. And I just realized that after that fantastic story I have no photographic evidence of my brush with famous people. My camera's batteries had died and we didn't get any pictures. But believe me, if I was going to make up a story of meeting celebrities I would meet Rascal Flats, Tim McGraw, Alisha Keys or even Josh Grobin. Any of them would have made a way cooler story :)

Sounds like a fun night! To bad the camera died, those would have been some good pictures!

Sounds like you had fun. When mark and I went, we go to go backstage too. You are lucky we didn't get to hang out with them for that long though. They do put on a good show don't they. I would go see their concert again.
